Basic or applied research project. The application has to establish why the Velux Foundation is necessary for the funding.
Funding areas:

• Daylight: Use of daylight and its effects on humans and nature
• Healthy Ageing
• Ophthalmology
• Excellent research projects within the foundation’s legal purposebut outside focus areas above can be considered

The application has to establish why you wish the project to be funded by the Velux Stiftung and why your project is not eligible for other funding sources. Projects that are eligible for and have a chance to be funded by a national governmental funding agency (for example by the Swiss National Foundation, National Institute of Health…) have a low likelihood to go into peer-review or to be funded. The project application therefore needs to establish a good argumentation why no sufficient governmental support can be obtained.
